Assembly Performance

Dear Parents

Room Eight is scheduled to present an item at the school assembly on Thursday 24^th September in Week Ten.

The class will be presenting the Artwork they created from our Creativity Unit. (Art from Around the World)

To complement this, I would like the students to be dressed in their National Costumes.

Could you please help you child organise a costume for this event.

If you do not have a National costume, could they bring

-      a red top (please let me know if you do not have one and we can organise one for your child)

-      black pants (school pants are ok)

Please bring this to school in a named plastic bag by Week 9.

The Little Digger at HPS

This week one little digger and a bull dozer came to H.P.S to dig out the degraded bark because it was not draining out. All of the bark was put on the grass. The teachers sent out a notice to the parents to see if anyone could help put
the new bark in. After all that work, it was finally finished and now we can play on our play ground but then it started to rain. So we couldn't play on the playground today :(.
Hopefully we can play on it tomorrow.

Lolly cake

On  the 20th of August room 8 made lolly cake.It took us about 35 minutes  to get the lolly cake in to logs.  When the lolly cake  was ready we all tried a piece of it. It was delicious. By Josh

Yesterday room 8 made lolly cakes. We get to take turns making it. Then we get to roll the dough like a log then Mrs  kittson put it in the fridge and we get to eat it. By Hanna

Mask Making

On Tuesday we all made origami animals with our Japanese visitors. I made a brachiosaurus and a camel.

Crazy Wet Lunch Day

Today was a rainy day. The girls decied to make crowns so they were queens.

Japanese Students- Crane Origami

Tomorrow we will be joined by 5 Japanese students and their mothers. We will be spending the next few days learning about their culture and sharing some of ours with them. Tomorrow will be Origami Day. We will hear a Japanese story about a crane and then attempt to create a one using origami. It will not be easy! Mrs Kittson had an attempt at one tonight

Cross Country Race

On Friday we had the school cross country race. We were lined up on the starting line waiting for Mrs Callister to start the race. Clap went the clickers and we ran between the goal and up the hill and down. We got on the concrete and we had to be careful when we ran by the back of the juniors classrooms. Then we got close to the tree. Then I did my second lap. When I got to the hill I got so muddy. It felt like I sunk in the dirty mud. I ran up on the the hill. It was really hard but I finally got up the hill. I went down the hill and got on the concrete again. I ran past the office and got behind the juniors and got between the tree and I got to the finish line.  I went passed two people.

School Cross Country & Fun Run: Friday 7th August

Students are to come to school in their school uniform

Students will need to bring 

·      sports unifom shorts

·      a t-shirt in their whanau colour or their school sports uniform top

·      towel

·      running shoes (optional)

·      plastic bag for gear

·      warm top and track pants, jacket (not school uniform items)

The students will wear these while they are waiting for their race
