Work On And Work Off

Work On And Work Off

Today the dinosaurs got up to mischief. One lazy group had a pool party when they were supposed to be working with the other dinosaurs. Two dinosaurs were doing a test because they wanted to get smarter than the other dinosaurs. Steggy was going to jump in to the pool because he made a diving
board out of the classroom blocks. I would love to do that!

Swimming time !!!

Hi there we are Felicity, Elizabeth and Grace. We are talking about our naughty dinosaurus Whois got up to a party again. Well this time they got to decide if they can go in the pool or do some work. Steggy was on the diving board. Steggy was about to leap off the diving board. While they were In the pool they were watching a movie called little foot the series. Them could not get their eyes off the iPad.  What I mean is they were glued to the movie. Also they are having a bath with their friend and the friend is a crocodile.  Some of the dinosaurs were working. Them did how to be a better dinosaur.

The Dinosaurs have come Alive

This morning we came into the classroom to see that the dinosaur they were having a party for Steggy's birthday!!! They had party food and party games like pin the tail on the dinosaur and a pinata! But one of the dinosaurs were cheating because he wasn't wearing a blindfold. It was funny because Kowhai (yellow) couldn't get into their desk so Mrs Kittson had to move the party to her desk :)! They gave Steggy a card with lots of different presents !! It was cool having a party in the classroom.

Egg Sitting Challenge

Dear Parents,

As part of our Keeping Ourselves Safe (KOS) programme, the children are going to become chief babysitters for an egg! Yes – an egg! It is not allowed to be boiled, by the way. The children will be responsible for the egg for four days and will have to care for the egg at all times. The children can name their egg and create a bed (bassinet) for it. This is to be done at home. If the children want to leave their egg, they have to engage another person to egg-sit! If the child’s egg breaks, they are not allowed to replace it.
The aim of this activity is for the children to learn to look after themselves and others – a theme that is woven through the KOS programme. Hopefully, the children will get an appreciation of the hard work you do as parents! This will be an egg-citing challenge, and an egg-ceptional week. I am looking forward to watching your children become responsible and egg-stremely great parents!

Students will need to bring their egg (supplied from home) to school unless they can find an 'eggsitter' for the day.
The challenge begins on Tuesday and will last for the rest of the week.

Thank-you for your cooperation.

ELE PHANT TOOTHPASTE

Today Room 8, 7 and 6 did an experiment. We were very excited to see what happened because we had never done that before. It was elephant toothpaste!!The ingredients are hydrogen peroxide, food colouring, yeast,  dishwashing liquid and warm water. We did 3% first and then we did 6%.  3% was a little explosion. Then 6% was bigger but not as big as 17%. It went everywhere. It even fell off the table but still 35% was really big. It did a massive explosion. It looked like real toothpaste as well. Elephant tooth paste was fun.

Mad Elephant Toothpaste Experiment

Elephant Toothpaste

Today we did an experiment on elephant toothpaste. We had to sit outside because Mrs Kittson said it might explode everywhere. Also Mrs Kittson and Miss Kilduff had to wear safety gear because they might get a chemical burn. We also had mad scientists called Bob and Burt who came to do the experiment. It was amazing.

Naked Egg Experiment: Wow

Today Room 8 did the Naked Egg Experiment. First we put the eggs in a pot and put vinegar into the pot. We waited for 3 days. The egg shell was completely dissolved. We could see right through the egg and see the yolk. Then we got to touch the naked egg. It was a bit bigger. After that our teacher put food colouring in the pot. It went green!! It was an awesome experiment

Room 8 naked egg experiment

Last week Room 8 did the naked egg experiment. We added vinegar into the jug with the eggs inside. We kept adding vinegar into the jug for a few days until the egg shell was completely gone. Carbon dioxide bubbles kept popping up every now and then. The vinegar reacted with the egg shell to make the bubbles of carbon dioxide. We noticed that the eggs had got bigger and at the end of the experiment the eggs were transparent. We could see the yolk inside it.

Making and Eating Jelly

Yesterday we ate our jelly that we made. The jelly was green and it was lime flavoured. When we picked up the spoon, the jelly was wobbly and it almost fell off the spoon. It tasted like lime and it was delicious. The jelly was very cold because it had been in the fridge. I ate very fast but they ate theirs slow. Some police officers came to the library and they tried to eat our jelly but we did not let them.
